Have you guys ever wondered why Luna's so much smaller than Celestia?
Why she's younger, and has less colors in her mane?
Well, it's obvious.
The moon is smaller than the sun.
The sun is HUGE.
The moon is just a small chip off of the earth.
The sun is fifty million bajillion times (Exaggeration) bigger than the earth.

I read that Clest might have more colours only because after Luna was sent to the moon she had to take on the job of raising both the sun and moon and it changed her mane colours

Also, Luna is about half the age of Celestia, so, I would say, about the maturity of the Mane Six but much older in age.
Not to mention her growth was stunted when she was on the moon because she didn't grow for a thousand years, so she was still a child/teen for about another year until her growth caught up again.

Also, Celestia may have the different colors because she's fully matured and because of the visible light spectrum from the sun.
