Hmm, that's strange. According to the wiki, it's a female, but according to the book "Belle of the Ball"-
"You wishes will come true,"said a pretty pony. Butterflies were all around him. "My name is Star Catcher."

Did a little research- it's a typo in the book.

All G3 ponies are female. G2 had some males, G1 had I think 16 adults(three in a female pose), and 11 young boys. G4 obviously has lots of backround males, only toy so far is Shining, blind bags are another story.

There were lots of typos on the My Little Pony Gen 1-Gen 3 stuff. I had the entire original mane 6. And actually, Gen 1 was all females, Gen 2 introduced males and Gen 3 still had males.

Gen 3 had no males, save for animals like G3 Spike. G1 had Big Brothers(Big Mac was probably inspired by them) and the little brothers. G2 had a few males, one being a "Clever Clover", which possibly inspired the character Clover the Clever xD
