it depends usually upon the actual kennel/pack, for mine they can't go on any hunting missions and will only be allowed to go on patrols if asked specifically by a high-ranking dog.

So I'm restarting Broken Sentinels but I want a naming system.. Anyone wanna help out with that? I don't want it to be to warrior cat like.

As far as my new kennel, I think they'll be called Bog Hounds or Muzzles of Mud. Something that sounds good with where they are which is going to be in a swampy area! The camp is going to be on the outskirts of a big bog and they hunt snakes, frogs, beavers and swampy critters. Most of the dogs are going to be lean and short-haired. Albeit they are still very like Broken Sentinels; patriarchal, rude, stubborn and just generally ill-tempered. I was thinking of making them a little more on the evil side even. ex: faes eat last, assigned mates, frequent disputes about rank which lead to fatal fights, etc.

As for the naming system... I have nothing. I was thinking of having the leader's all start with 'croc' like the animal. Maybe it's a revered animal - big, strong, intimidating, lethal? So with Bear it would've been Croc-Bear. Now that it's down I don't think I like it, lol.

You could try to name them like mythical swamp monsters. For example, the omegas could be named Grunch (name). The grunch are a group of dwarves and albino people that are forced to live in the swampy forests of Louisiana. It is believed that living in seclusion for so long caused inbreeding and deformed-almost inhuman like creatures.
Maybe the alpha or beta could be named bunyip (although it doesn't sound too intimidating). The bunyip is a mythical swamp creature from Australian folklore. It translates to "devil" or "evil spirit" and lurks the swamps looking for people to eat.
I also found another monster called the Ayia Napa. It's a friendly sea monster in Cyprus. It is crocodile or serpent-like and doesn't cause harm to people. Napa may be a good name for the shaman of you kennel.
Just giving you some ideas for how you want to name your dogs. I'll link the links to the monsters.
