Personally, I love coloring/shading really. Putting in flat color isn't all that interesting, but I tend to have a rather painterly style so coloring and shading sort of merge together into one process. Anyways. I thought it'd be fun to hear everyone's favorite and least favorite things x3

My favorite part is finishing! XD I love looking at completed work, comparing it to the WIP shots, and being able to say, "Whoa, that hard work really paid off."

I've been very bad to myself lately, as in I overwork myself and have let my ambition get to the point where it's now self-destructive. I'm making an effort to change that. In the mean time, it's been harder to enjoy the drawing process. But getting it done always makes me feel content. Lately I've been in a sucky mood artwise because my 2014 portfolio trumps my 2015 one. I didn't make time for art like I should have and I feel gross. :P Take my word for it: don't overwork or ignore your talents/passion.

For me, I'd have to say I love sketching *v* It's when I let my creativity go free and it's just a great feeling to sketch ;v; I don't like lining nor flat colouring as much as the other steps of drawing... However I do like shading (sometimes) because it tells me I'm almost done and I also like colouring the lines (making some lines different colours, depending on the base colour) so that they match the colour ^-^

I also tend to love drawing underwater and sky backgrounds *-* I'm in love with the cloud tool and Paint Tool SAI and I use it almost every single time, whether for shading, background or anything in general ;v;

I absolutely love these brush settings. I don't know where I found them, but I've since messed around with it enough that it's probably not like the original anyways xD I kind of mess around with the settings a lot while I'm drawing, too, but this is the main brush I use, on Sai, anyhow x3

i really like sketching !! i use a mechanical pencil traditionally and just fill up the whole page, and i have lots of little doodles in my digital art folder. but i really love to color stuff even though its really hard for me to find a coloring style. i end up wanting to color a sketch like..5 different ways and can't decide! also its hard for me to find colors that work well together....so i need to work on that!

Hmm I like colouring, especially traditional pencils in digital I mainly work with block colours, no fancy blending....

I absolutely love adding finishing touches. It is when it all gets together and blends into something and it is when you can fix those little details that bother you. The part that is slightly boring to me is lining as when I do line I go to extreme detail and it is just really a lengthy process. Adding fur to realistic drawings is also really fun.

eep i like shading ;w;
i also love abusing the smudge tool oops

@ ʞ ɔ ǝ ɹ ʍ d ı ʞ s: holy snap is that pic gorgeous ;w;
for the smoke & dirt i'd say just smudge the heck out of it!! lowering the opacity of the smoke will also help convey the texture b/c rn it's just a liiiitle too heavy

@ lamenii: i'm gonna cry you have such nice shading ;w;
i really love the painterly effect~

i have a bamboo & it's lasted me about five years now despite me spilling so much pop & nail polish on it haaaa whoops
they're pretty sturdy things!! the drawing area is pretty small but other than that i haven't had a problem with it

    Uhhhh I think my favorite thing would have to be shading. I think that's really when the drawing seems to come to life c:

    As for the brush question, I have an exclusive group of different brushes that I use for specific things. I don't think I've touched the rest xD

    @corrigan Why thank you! <3
    and that pic is amazing! I love the perspective! The colors are really neat together too :oo

    OK GUYS so I made a promo poster for my book
    someone tell me how well I Disney'd because I think I'm too sucked up in pride to give myself an accurate guess
    There were a few Disney aspects that I just couldn't bring myself to do, like over-exaggerated features n stuff. But I still think it turned out pretty good? I'm really frikin excited actually :DD

I actually did a considerably pretty quick drawing whilst experimenting more or less and during the span of days that I've taken onto finishing this I've also managed to get sick and had to put it off. But now it's finally finished.
Like any other time that I post art here, I would appreciate constructive criticism.

@skipwreck: I think the promo poster actually looks really nice. I haven't really dabbled into that kind of art style yet so really I can't give much criticism other than that I'd adjust the lightning and make them feel like they're fully part of the environment and making the actual ring pop a bit more as a part of focus.
@corrigan.: As a quick painting I actually quite like it. I think that refining it more and more will give it the desired look quite fast.

__

I also use a bamboo tablet and i do agree with corrigan the actual drawing area is very small but it's very good so far. I've only had cable problems which resulted in a chain of issues but i had it fixed. After over three years for me it's holding up very well. I'm probably the only person who's currently out of pen refills and if I run out of the current one -it looks quite bad and small right now- I'll have to order more. I do wish that I can replace it with a newer model but there is no point in it until it completely breaks since they all work quite similar. Later in the future if I do become a good artist a cintiq is what I want to get.

@notifyneelix; I love sketching, but my absolute favourite part has to be final clean-up. Adding adjustment
layers, those final highlights and extra touches gives always gives me happy feels. ^-^

@corrigan.; I'd recommend you to construct and build your foreshortened pictures with the coil technique.
Here are two tutorials that might help you: One //Two.

@ʞ ɔ ǝ ɹ ʍ d ı ʞ s; Lovely stylization! You'd really benefit from thumbnailing your works on
beforehand, though. Don't forget your overall values. C:

@gwanu; I'd love to see more lineart work and pure drawings from you instead of fully rendered pieces.
I think you sometimes get distracted in drawing the fur and forget the underlying shapes. :)

I've been studying facial construction after a lovely critique by zlyczlowiek on the Sycra Forums, is this an
improvement? Critique is as always very much appreciated.
