Delilah and Teyha turned 2 this summer! I never got Delilah's tumors removed. There is only two and their not getting bigger or spreading, and they don't bother her. Plus she weezes - she was on medication for that and it didn't work - and she's getting older.. I just didn't think it was fair to her to put her through the pain of surgery. She's getting skinnier though even though she has a ton of food.. :(
Teyha is still healthy as ever.

I think these two are my last pair of rats though. I had bad luck with Zeus, and then bad luck with these guys and it makes me sad. There aren't any breeders around here so any rat I get is from a pet store and they always turn out sick. Teyha is the only healthy one I have and she bites. It's been a great time having them but it kills me to see my animals not feeling well. :c

my one rat is over 2 and she has a very large tumor on her behind, shes able to eat, drink and go to the washroom, but i feel that it may be best to put her down, she was bred by me and came from my own litter of pups, her daughter was born last march and she has 2 small lumps as well

i just dont want to place risk on them and get surgery for her and then her not pulling through

my oldest rat was 2.5 years old.

the downside to rats and mice is their short lifespan

but id rather have them then dogs or cats

though i do have cats
[size=150]I've quit CS, tho I'm seeking Birthday date swaps for Shima LongTail, Dragon Cat PPS, Cheshire Cat, dates in pet names

So you don't want to risk getting them surgery and giving them a small chance to pull through, but you're well and set on having them put down so that they have NO chance at all?

We've had many, many rats (check my Avatars of friend folder) and we've had tumors removed from at least 7 of them. Only one lived more than a couple months before getting another tumor. That was Kemosabe and she got the first one at about two and we had it removed. The second one was about 7 months later, which we had removed but the third came before she had even recovered from the surgery. She didn't quite make it to three.

Having said that, see what the vet says. Mine told me that you have a good chance of getting all of the lump if you catch it early but it is usually too late by the time you can see it clearly. If it doesn't grow much and they get along okay then let them live with it. I'd still probably try if the vet says there is a good chance they would be alright. Even 6 months is a long time for a rat.

At this time, we have 8 rats. (4 were pets that were handed over to the pet shop and they gave them to me.)

Armageddon and Ebony played together today! They love each other. Unfortunately Cleo doesn't like Armageddon so she stayed in her cage.
