What is Sonic the Hedgehog?
Our favorite speedster started his journey in 1991, in a 2D platformer for the
Sega Genesis called, 'Sonic the Hedgehog'. He's a royal blue anthropomorphic hedgehog with
green eyes. He later became the mascot for a now leading video game
producing company called SEGA. Despite many of the games in the Sonic series receiving
bad reviews and credibility, he's still as alive as ever and thriving in this day's age. Sonic is
usually seen paired up with Tails the Fox, Knuckles the Echidna, and Amy Rose.
There is many additional characters that reside in their respected universes of
the games, shows, and comics.
Q: Where can I get the Sonic the Hedgehog games?
A: Any Sonic game should be held at your local game store, such as Gamestop or Mythic.
If you want a digital version, Steam and some consoles have online stores. Most games are
outdated so you may have to check Amazon or Craigslist to get handhelds. There is also
games that can be placed onto a computer through Emulator. Don't worry if you cant get
the originals; games such as Sonic Generations or some game collections have them
within them.
Q: How do I decide which Sonic game to get?
A: Each Sonic the Hedgehog game is usually categorized between 'bad' and 'good'.
Though you shouldn't abide by these, it can serve as a good reminder of the public's
opinions on a game you might want. Take the originals for example, they're generally
called good games because they're 90's classics. Games like Sonic 06, which are
'broken', are influenced by the fandom's overall opinion--so if you ask someone
if they like it, it'd probably be a "no,". You should focus on if you'd enjoy the
game, not if others do. If you're still second-guessing, try looking at trusted
online reviewers.
