Okay, okay. Final version. And I MEAN final. XD
Yeah, um... the timer doesn't lie. XD No seriously, I spent an hour coloring and designing those stupid wings.
And the weirdest thing about my entry? I spent 7 hours on it, in 3 different versions. I've never spent that much time of a drawing, much less a contest entry, before. owo
She...
Was born to a mother who had escaped the lab only a week after her birth, genetically altered to use mechanical parts as if they were her own limbs. She was gorgeous. Every male in the pack wanted her. She toyed with their hearts, then threw them away, spirits crushed. She was ruthless. Some called her "evil."
Every one of them was heartsick.
He...
Came to her pack after his mother was trapped by poachers. He was small and weak, easily pushed aside by the rest of the wolves his age. He didn't mind, just wandered aimlessly with no purpose and no ambition. He didn't see much point in living. His mother had taught him nothing of survival before her death. He never knew his father.
They...
Met as he settled into his new pack life. He loved her at first sight. And though the others had warned of her cunning, the way she would break his heart, he didn't care. He caught her food for her if she was hungry and slipped feathers into her nest so she would have a good night's sleep. She acted as though she was impressed by him, then she dumped him hard, and brutally too.
"Why don't you like me anymore?" He asked the day after her letdown.
"You're a freak. An idiot. As if I ever liked you in the first place!?"
And though he knew she hated him now, he still blundered on, faithfully loving her, though her love for him had waned from nothing. He served her loyally until adulthood. She had still not taken a mate. He was the only one left to love her. And then he told her something she'd heard many times, but never in such a sincere way.
"I love you. I want to be with you. I've loved you since I set foot into our shared den, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Give me a chance. You've never given anyone a chance all these moons, have you? They all loved you. You broke their hearts. But I've stayed with you this whole time. Give me a chance. Please."
She opened her mouth, ready to turn him down, to crush his heart yet again. She'd never loved him!
But she had, without knowing it. She had perhaps loved him at night, when she sunk into her dreams, where she could not continue to act. Maybe she had loved him the time he'd given up all his food for her, during the great famine. Maybe she'd even loved him at the times when he'd bounded alongside her faithfully, craving her love to the point of death.
And so she turned around and simply told him the truth, for the first time in her life.
"Well, I suppose I love you too."
If you don't want them, I think I'll take them or auction them off. I certainly love their story. And if I do win 1st, I'll do refs for them if you like for free. :3
Oh, and I realized I have a lot to explain about some of the female's accessories. So here we go.
-That cord thing around her tail. So... one tip is a chip with info about her on it, and the other is a defunct tracker that broke when her mother busted a glass door to get out of the lab.
-The wings fold under her mounted clock and unfold. The webbing is cloth, and the joints are all metal.
-The goggle is one of two. They are both separate, which is why there's an extra band around her head.
-The mechanical leg folds just like the wings. It's her only mechanical leg, if I win then I can show you the others in a ref.
-Oh, and the eye patch on the male... totally unoriginal. But the story is that he blinded his eye by poking it on the barbed wire surrounding the cage his mom was trapped in. He was trying to get her out. His blinded eye creeped everybody out, so he got an eye patch so he could stop looking quite so weird.
