The Story of Legend
The Warrior Wolf
Beginning
The small pup wandered up to the large black wolf. It yipped, "Hi! I'm Toby!" In a high pitched, childish voice. The large black wolf grunted. In his deep voice he said, "Run along now, little one. You shouldn't be out here, so deep in the forest.". The pup whimpered. "I can't find my mother. I've been searching for hours, and I'm famished." The large black wolf sighed at the pup. He then stood, his legs shaking. He revealed a bleeding wound on his chest. "What happened to you?" Toby asked. "Bad things." The elder replied. Toby shrugged. "Can we find something to eat?" He asked, not considering the injured wolf. "We best find your mother."
Toby Yesterday
Toby snuggled up to his mother. "I love you mommy." He said sweetly. She smiled and snuggled back. He was the last of his siblings after the attack by rats. He saw his mom perk her ears. He went silent and listens. Foot steps crunched the dry autumn leaves outside the den. Crunch crunch crunch. "Mommy, who is it?" Toby whispered. His mom looked at him, her expression worried. "Toby, honey..." She licked his cheek. "I love you. Hide in the corner, under the dry grass and leaves. Don't make a sound, and don't come out until I say." She finished. Toby did as he was told. His mother disappeared. Little did he know it would be the last time her saw her.
Legend 2 Days Ago
Legend walked into the cold, dark cave. His black pelt made him invisible, besides his glowing red eyes and clinking armor. He reached a lighted part. He turned the corner to see the fire pelted wolf. He had his daughter, as promised. "Luna!" He exclaimed, relived it wasn't a trap. She wasn't dead after all! "Give her back you pile of pond scum!" He growled. Tyrees, the fire pelted wolf, laughed his classic evil laugh. He stood up, stalking toward Legend. "Now, now, Legend. You better watch your mouth, or your daughter may really be dead in a blink of the eye." Tyrees growled. Legend looked at his paws. He had to get her back, Tyrees killed his wife and other pups, she was all he had left. She had gotten big since the last time he had seen her. "How do I get her back?" He begged. "You have to complete a mission. I can tell you now, you won't like it." Tyrees said with a laugh. Luna stayed silent. her words had made her come so close to death, she hardly ever spoke anymore. "Tell me." Legend demanded.
Toby Yesterday
Toby tried to hear the voices outside the den, but they were muffled. Then her heard growling, snarling, and yelping. He whimpered very quietly, would his mother be okay? He was worried. Suddenly it all got louder, as if another wolf joined in. He stayed silent as told, and hid for hours after the sounds were gone. He came out during the night, everyone was gone. Blood splattered the leaves. A large male wolf was lying a few yards away. Toby ran towards it. "Sir, sir? Where is my mom?" He yipped. The body didn't even twitch at the sudden voice in the silent night. Toby sniffed the body. "Its dead!" He yelled, terrified.
Legend Yesterday
Legend ran, his black armor clanging noisily. He couldn't give up, not when he had come this far. Not when his only family member's life was on the line. He forced his legs to power on, even though they were feeling wobbly with exhaustion. What if he came to the fight now, would he be strong enough? He knew he had to sleep. He needed to restore his energy. Legend found a small shelter underneath an evergreen tree, slid of his armor, and fell asleep.
He woke up the next morning, the sun low in the sky and grass still cool with dew. He was starving, and quickly found a rabbits nest. He never understood why a mother rabbit left her kits out in the open. Didn't she know they would be taken as easy prey? Sure, he didn't like to eat babies, but he didn't have the time to hunt. "Prey is prey." He said with a sigh, putting on the heavy armor again. He started to walk in the direction he needed to go, soon breaking into the same run.
