( yellow when he is happy, red when he is angry, green when he is sad, purple when he is crushing aka; looking at or communicating with someone he likes and pink when he is confused, and when he isn't feeling any particular emotion strongly they glow blue like his eyes.

He was born in the lowest level of hell. You see, the underword is arranged into 3 levels. The lowest or third level is for the lowest ranking demons, the poor ones. They are in charge of travelling to the human world and tempting humans to sin, and therfore end up in the underworld after their death which is the most laborous job. The middle or second level would serve as a middle class, the demons found there are typically in charge of colecting those humans who have sinned souls after they die these demons are classified as reapers. In the highest level of hell are the high ranking dukes, duchesses and even the king of the underworld himself, live. Some of these demons collect souls and others actually turn the deceased into demons. The king of hell stores the souls in his vaults, they can be used to make various items but are mostly just viewed as a trophy for the demon king. Demons are not supposed to work their ways up to higher levels. They are to remain and work in the level they were born into. So Evon should not be allowed to work for the second or first level. Souls that are harvested by members of the second or first level must all be turned in but after a certain amount of souls are turned in they can get powers. The most common and most wanted is the power to turn into a different animal (all demons can turn into a human no matter their class) The most expensive are dragons and griffins while the cheapest are the rat, fox and turtle dove. Upon trading in for the desired shift ability a stone is given to the demon and upon deep meditation it combines with the demon and they have the ability to shift into the animal at will. All demons can only buy three different shift gems. Their bodies cannot handle the ability to turn into more then three demons. The only one capable of shifting into more creatures is the king of hell.
Evon should belong on the third level of hell, but worked his way up. He got a job working for a duke who doesn't want to do his job. they struck a deal. Evon would collect souls for the duke, and because he is not rightfully a member if the first level the duke would turn in the souls and get things for Evon. He works insanley hard and was able to pay for the dragon gems after 23 years which is much sooner then most are able to afford it. It takes most demons 30+ years to be able to afford it. The duke pays for Evon to live on the second level and forged eveything on him so his roots cannot be traced back to the third level of the underworld.
