Aqualia Foxe

Pronounced: Ah-queel-ee-uh fox--ey
Aqualia Foxe is a rare species ranging in the cold, northern waters. Usually in the ocean. They prey upon fish, birds and small animals on the ice sheets and near water. They use their large wings to propel themselves out of the water to catch birds that are flying close to the water or if they're on the shore. They're able to walk on land as well.

The thick, sturdy scales on their backs have adapted to the freezing weather. So instinctively when they're on land, they can sense it from the change of temperature. This way they can curve inwards, allowing the tail to stiffen. They do this because most animals will mistaken the tail for the throat due to low body heat in that area, which is also found in the neck. Therefor, they will go for the tail but won't inflict as much damage as if they'd have gone for the throat since the tail is completely stiff. The tail also does this to provide warmth for the Aqualia's body.

They're various webbed body areas can help with swimming. When in water, the wings are slightly deployed to help with speed. The wings have a small webbed area that is fluent against the waters.

Aqualias hunted by Polar Bears, Sea Lions, and of course, humans.

These intelligent creatures hide and find their den sources within ice burges. they use their long claws to chip away and also burrow into holes in the ice to keep safe and warmth. Commonly, they'll burrow on land into small holes near water or ocean.
