Dont be sad, you just have to keep practicing. No one is born a masterpiece artist, it takes practice to get there. :)

ShimmerSolarPets wrote:I apologize for my lack of progress on my entry. Oekaki is not really working for me at the moment, and exams are coming up soon. I'm also out of inspirations on how to improve the lines XD . I'll try to work on it when I can, though! :3

Would just like to say that everyone's entries are looking great! c:

By the way, Nanorat, what size (thickness/boldness) would you like for the lines? I'm not sure what size I should use, so I figured I should probably ask you to see if you have any suggestions/preferences/anything you'd like to call it. Thanks!

EDIT: Oh, and one more question (sorry XD). For my entry, would you prefer the wings to be opened or closed? Or perhaps you'd prefer no wings? Thank you so much!

Dont worry about taking long, this contest will run for a long while more judging by the progress overall. It's nowhere near having enough entries to be judged. :)

I dont really have preference for lines, the best is probably happy medium? Not too thin and not too thick. :) But overall, do the lines you're most comfortable doing.

As for wings, they arent 100% necessary. They are a beetle-dog cross, so they might have wings or not have them. They arent able to fly though, they're too big and heavy; if there are wings, they'd probably only use them for jumping\rushing but not actual flying.

The sketch above is the lineart for them to use? The "(or part of a lineart for contestants to complete)" one, it's not just a random doodle, it shows the correct anatomy of the species I want the contestants to follow.

The sketch under text is a full species sketch - it matters a lot in this contest, entries not following the anatomy of it (like making the head x2 times bigger or giving it six legs) would be disqualified.

That's weird, Ive held the "finish the sketch" contests on Oekaki before and never had a problem with it not being considered part of lineart. :what:

Edit: Added a background. It features a table, a wallpaper with flowers, and an item - ruler. Is it ok now?..

Usually when people give a sketch it's just a guideline; they want a different, unique pose. Since you're wanting it to follow it pretty heavily, it's okay. Sorry for the confusion! (-:
      The background looks great, too.

Sorry for any undue stress! When I go through the competitions checking for backgrounds or linearts I usually throw the warning out at quite a few at once because a lot of people overlook the rule. Thank you for taking it so politely. ^^

Contest extended again and a reminder: just the lineart is considered a WIP and cant win 1st prize!
Entry must include all the necessary elements listed (lineart, shading&shine, color layer) to be considered a finished entry!

There are currently 0 finished entries!
Dont be shy to enter if you didnt yet, even if current entries look really good - none of them is finished yet and there are good chances to win if you do finish your entry and they dont! ;)

Re: Please Enter my draw-my-species contest! MOONSWIRL 1st p

I'm really sorry for asking so many questions >.< I'm not even sure if I can fix my entry any further, but I'll try ^^.

1. I know that it is probably really late to ask this question (seeing that I'm already starting on the coloring XD), but I'd like to ask: Do you prefer the species to look more beetle-like or dog-like?

2. Do you want it to have a tail?

Thanks so much ^^ Once again, sorry for asking so many questions. Feel free to suggest any changes to my entry, if you want.

More beetle-like or dog-like in which aspects? :) For example, I want the head to stay 100% beetle, but some body things might be made more dog-like.

I do generally like a tail on them, but with your current entry's body structure adding tail probably wont look good?

Id only suggest fixing the feet, the paws look more like skeleton than insect! Insect paws are simplier, just solid claws (dont mind the arrows, image off Google):

The rest of the leg is good. :D

Thanks for the answer and the advice c: I'll continue my work on my entry again when I get the chance!

A tail probably wouldn't look good on my current entry, but I might be changing a few aspects of my entry to make it more dog-like (I keep feeling it looks too beetle-like XD) . Not sure if I'll go with changing it, though. (Sometimes, things go awry when I try to change it XD)

Also, thank you so much for your advice on the feet! :)

I could do a redline to show what changes I feel would make your entry look more perfect? If you'd like, of course. :)
