W.o.D Artist Contest

Postby Delilah Nightingale » Fri Mar 02, 2012 11:47 am

Welcome :: Hello all! I am NeverGonnaGrowUp owner of the Warrior of Dehole species. I have decided to hold a contest for the species. I just want to thank Neara for these wonderful lines and for all you people for taking time out of your day to read and possibly enter this. I just want to make this clear right away. There is no pet prize. The 1st prize is a guest artist position and the ability to make two of these wonderful creatures. Only one may be kept for yourself, but you must follow the species information on the main page. If I find one that catches my eye completely I just might put them as a artist. Good luck all!

Rules ::
1. No copying other people's designs.
2. No claiming the species as your own after you compete.
3. Do not use these lines for your own purposes. I make this clear. If you enter this contest your entry will not be an actual W.o.D. Meaning you cannot participate in the role play. Got that?
4. No complaining or hating on other peoples entries.
5. No editing your entry after I have decided the winner. I will report. And I will not hesitate.
6. FOLLOW THE SPECIES INFORMATION! I cannot stress this enough! If I find an entry that doesn't fit the description you will be disqualified. No questions asked. No second chances. I have said it twice already I will not say it again.

Average Height: 20hh - 28hh
Matures at: 3 years
Average Lifespan: varies, but they never get over 234 years old
Location: Dehoule
Diet: varies

Description- W.o.D are the evolved form of today's horse. They typically live in bands with one stallion who owns and breeds each and every mare in their group. It is not uncommon to come across a lone mare or stallion as well. They are tall and broad shouldered. They have strong back and leg bones, perfect for running for fighting. They typically live in plain or wooded areas.

Behaviour- W.o.D are very temperamental and are not good as pets. They will not hesitate to trample anything that gets in their way, but they can be sweet and caring if you raise them right. During their autumn mating season stallions battle it out to see who gets the mares. It is a winner takes all affair. Typically, the largest stallion wins hands down, but it is getting increasingly apparent that some stallions are ganging together on the giant band leaders then splitting up the prize. Even thought W.o.D live a very long time some don't ever get the change to breed. Even these giants have to deal with equally as large predators. The Pantera, a evolved form of the panther or mountain lion, will go to all ends to stalk down the equine-like creatures and snag a couple foals for dinner. It is becoming very common to see these beasties in fierce battles. Not with their natural predators, but human on human wars. These W.o.D were trained since birth to fight with humans on their backs head on against their own kind. Some have been genetically mutated to be larger, stronger, faster, and live longer than others giving your side an edge. Very few ever rebel under the human hand.

Captured/Raised W.o.D- W.o.D whom are captured or raised are used in battle. They wear protective armor that relates to who they are and who they are meant to be. To get this armor is considered a coming of age ritual amongst the fighters. You will be released deep into the forest where you must battle Panthera and other Dehoule beasts. Only the strongest of the creatures will actually find their armor and inner self.

Colouring- W.o.D, unless mutated, only come in natural colors such as bay, chestnut, palomino, dun, brown, and black. It is not rare at all to come across on with a brindle or pinto pattern of sorts. Mutated W.o.D can aquire colors such as vibrant pink, neon green, orange, aqua, or purple.

My one question is:

As a contestant, are we allowed only one entry or two? I would do two entries only because I'd like to do a naturally-colored Warrior and a mutated-colored Warrior.

Wonderful. Expect my entries soon. Horses entered are to be unnamed, I assume?

Yes since they will not be actual W.o.D unless you win and make them as yours.

A big thing I am looking for is a good brindle and paint style as well. :)

You know, I thought about doing a mutated paint (tovero pattern), but the Appaloosa blanket pattern sat so nicely in my mind's eye.

Bummer that I can't do another entry!!! Hopefully someone else will attempt a paint or brindle pattern. :)
