- an entry for a rise cat.
there's an explanation below; sorry it's so long!! I didn't mean for it to be haha
Sundapple's defining moment (or one of them, at least) was when she was a young member of the clan, just starting to grow accustomed to life as a new warrior. she was out with a patrol, following the scouts due to word that some cats had been trespassing over their borders. Usually warriors didn't go out on patrols as that was the Scouts job, but their leader feared they might run into another group of cats and a fight would break out, and wanted a couple trained warriors to interfere if needed.
During the patrol. a nearby twoleg's dog had tugged the leash out of their hand and gone running after the patrol, scattering them into several smaller groups. Sundapple was separated from everyone except a scout apprentice. The apprentice had injured their hind leg during the chase, and was unable to run or fight. Sundapple put herself in harms way, between the dog and the younger cat, even though she knew that as a lone inexperienced warrior she stood no chance of beating the dog. Luckily, the twolegs called their dog back, and Sundapple and the apprentice (as well as the rest of the patrol) were able to return to camp relatively unscathed, aside from a few scratches.
After the incident, Sundapple developed a close relationship with the apprentice, and felt like she had to protect and care for them as an older sister would. The apprentice had difficulty returning to their Scout duties after the dog attack, and Sundapple then decided to pursue a career in being a Scout rather than continue her warrior duties. It was a big decision to make, but one she felt was best so she could help the apprentice manage their anxiety and panic during patrols and keep their position as a Scout.
Before the incident, Sundapple was naïve and driven to be a warrior because she was excited by the idea of successfully beating her opponents. She craved the feeling of victory that she thought came from harming another cat. But after this moment, Sundapple was intensely driven to protect and defend her clanmates, and has been far happier than she ever would have been had she continued her role as a warrior.
