- A brief tutorial laying out how to draw Selachimosaurus!
1. Start with a general shark body, adjusting length and shape depending on the variety of Sela'. I generally just do a tear-drop shape, and then work in the jaw-line, and then add the fins. In total there are 7 fins; 2 dorsal (primary and secondary), 2 caudal (top and bottom tail fin), 2 pelvic, and 1 anal fin. I also mark in where I will later add the pectoral fin.
2. Next add the legs. They are based on Tyrannosaurus legs, which I usually draw as 2 lines (representing thigh and shin), and then use a triangle in place of the foot. I add little ovals to represent the toes, one 2/3 down the trianble, one at the tip (though they have 3 toes total and 1 spur!).
3. Finally the pectoral fin, which functions sort of like a primitive arm/wing (yes they do flap them about wildly sometimes). It's fairly simple, just a large triangle as the base, adding some shape to it as you finalize. There is 1 small thumb digit attached to the inside of the pectoral, which I just draw as a shapely oval with a nail.
Then just fill in some minor details, and you've drawn yourself a Selachimosaurus!
