African Storm Caller

Postby King of Crows » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:47 am

The African Storm Caller is a large, light weight wolf-like creature. They are named for their tendency to start up a chorus of eery, high-pitched keening before a storm. Because of this, for a long time, natives believed that the ASC sings to summon storms to the desert. They have longer hind legs than fore legs, giving them a sloped, arched spine. They are covered in short, coarse fur over most of their body, but have longer, silkier hair on their ankles, neck, and cheeks. Their long tail is tipped in a scorpion like barb, however, this barb does not carry venom, but is just used to spear prey such as hares, lizards, birds, and snakes. The single horn on their forehead is what they use to communicate, because it is hollow, they can force air through it, creating the sounds that they use to communicate.
