<3 I love Rough Skinned Newts. They're black/dark brown with a belly colored from yellow to bright orangish-red. They're really docile and fun to play around with, but after touching them, wash your hands and don't touch your eyes/nose/etc, because they happen to be extremely toxic.
If threatened, Rough skinned newts will expose their bright colored belly to warn predators of its toxicity. The only animal immune to this is the garter snake.
They have tested this and fed the Rough skinned newt to common predators(Reptiles, other amphibians, etc). All were dead, and sometimes, the Rough skinned newt crawled out of it's predators body, completely unharmed!
