One of our horses, Katie, has a bad leg. Medicine is not helping her a lot, neither is the horrible whether. If she could get a drier, better home away from wetness, perhaps she could have a much better chance. She is a thoroughbred/quarter horse, and has Native Dancer right in her pedigree. Hopefully she can have a better future, but if she doesn't, we may have to put her down.
For all of you to know, this is not a "Sell a sick horse so we don't have to deal with it" situation or a "If she doesn't sell, we put her down" situation. It is similar, but for some of you, it isn't the way you think. The weather sucks here, and is not helping her injury. If anything it may be making it worse. We are not sure how she got this injury, but have been giving her the proper medicine. For all of you who are suggesting to go to a vet, we have enough knowledge and have enough supplies that there is no need to use the little money we have to get knowledge we already have.
Sorry I failed on her color. The tan streaks are due to her color, fleabitten gray, consisting of the color, gray, of course, and black or tan dots. Gray is a very interesting color in horses as it changes from brownish gray as a foal to pure white at old age. She is about 13, 14 years old.
Votes, replies, all appreciated of course.
