Briar Rose, or Briar as her Father called her, was sitting on her rock, making sure all the energy around her was chaos and troublesome. With a hint of fun. That was how she liked it, her life. Always something different, always on the run. What more fun could that be?
Her purple eye popped open as she heard a rustiling sound in a tree. Then she opened the other eye, a red eye. The eye she had hurt. Something moved in the trees again, this time louder.
--How much louder could they be?-- She thought to herself.
Suddenly, a pure white wolf fell out of the trees onto the forest floor. He looked up at Briar Rose and grinned,"'Ello," He said loudly so she could hear from her rock,"How are you today?" He asked, standing up as if falling from a tree was an everyday thing for him.
Briar Rose looked down at the wolf,"I'm... fine," She repiled bourdly,"Who re you? Why where you even in a tree?"
"I was chasing a squirell, when I chased it up a tree." He began with a serious face,"So, I climbed up the tree. But soon I lost my foot holdings and fell to the floor,"He smiled,"Which brought me here, to you. Ah, also I am Flame."
Briar nodded her head,"I'm Briar Rose,"She looked at him, expecting him to look afraid. But he didn't. He almost looked bored with her.
He smiled again,"So, is this your territory or are you a loner or what?"
"I'm a loner. What about you?"
"Me too. I left my pack a long time ago."
Briar jumped down from her rock,"Well, it was nice to meet you." Then she had smiled. And she haddened smiled since before he dad died.
~~~~Some years later~~~
Flame pocked his head into his den,"Briar you ready?" He asked impatiently. Ever since that on day, they had followed eack other around. It took a few months before they finally addmitted to one another that they had been. Besides, they wher only friends now. --Nothing more than friends. That's how we both want it to be.-- Briar reminded herself.
"Yea, I'm ready," She came out, pulling behind the sack that contained stolen food from the pack territory they had raided last night. Now it was time for another move. Into another unlucky pack's terriorys.
Flame smiled to himself, Briar seemed to be unwilling to go now. He dragged along another sack too, more food to last them a long time ahead. He laughed as Briar Rose looked at him confused like. He shook his head and she rolled her eyes at him, as if it was when before when he had caought her following him. Or when she caught him following her.
The two friends set offto find a new place to stay until they where kicked out. The day was fun and careless, but Briar had an uneasy feeling something bad was going to happen soon. Very soon.
~~~~Middle Of That Night~~~~
Shouts awoke Briar and Flame very fast. The air smelled heavily of smoke and burn trees. Along with burning flesh. Many different kinds of animals where runnning for somewhere safe. Briar looked at Flame, to see the fire racing towards their little makeeshift hideout. Flame emidetly pushed Briar out and they made a run for it.
It seemed hopeless, the fire was already very close to them. Their skin and fur fet as if it was singing off from just the heat. Then came the flames, rolling even fast now.
Flame screamed out for Briar to keep going as he felt his short tail growing even more hot and painful. Briar dared to look at his tail only to see that it was burning. Flame looked at Briar and she could see tears in his eyes. He didn't want to die. The smoke was even heavier now, enough to make it so Briar Rose couldn't even breath. She spotted trees that streched high up to the heavens. And then she saw where she had first met Flame. The tree, the rock. The tree had grow just a mite, but it was amazingly taller now.
Briar pointed her snout to the tree and Flame followed after her. Briar got there first so she climbed up the tree as high as she dared to go. Looking down, she could see Flame as he stopped climbing. He knew it was hopeless, he was already having his legs burned off. He looked back up at Briar and tears shed down, only to be evaporated as soon as they left his eyes.
Briar looked down in horror as the flames licked her friend all over. And then he was covered by them all.
She just stood there, in the tree they had met with, as Flame burned to death.
Flame, killed by flames, his namesake.
Briar cried in the tree, wishing for it to all go away. She became unconsious, only to wake up later to see the fire out, and the lands scorched.
