They were training in the field with the pack, or at least they were supposed to be. Spade was more focused on a she-wolf across the clearing then his opponent, even when they pinned him to the ground.
"Tap," he growled gruffly, and he got up swiftly, brushing himself off. The dirt usually just blended in with his brown fur coat. His attacker stalked off, obviously angry that his partner hadn't even tried. The leader of the pack barked loudly, indicating to find new battle partners. The girl that he'd been watching smiled as she waltzed over to him.
"Would you care to be partners?" she asked, a voice like silk. Spade wanted to answer, but he couldn't form the words. He just nodded slightly and got into the ready postion. When the leader barked once more, Spade jumped on the girl, whose name was Pepper, and they laughed. They played until the next bark rang throughout the field, and Spade bowed.
"Your name is Pepper, correct?" he asked, making sure his assumptions had been right. When the female grey wolf nodded, Spade smiled, and they parted to go and find new partners.
"Thank you!" she cried, and Spade smiled to himself. Looks like he'd found himself a new friend.
