Here is my advice: Get things fluffy! and Don't be afraid to take some risks, mess up a few times. Trust me, I drew just like you do a while ago, yet I practiced and practiced and got better; Take this for example. Also, don't make the backs short or long, or straight, dogs have back bones too. In addition, don't make their bodies too long, it looks a bit unnatural.

Aww, I'm glad you like it. I dunno why, I just love redlining things. If you need help with paws or legs or tails or something, I can redline it for you XD Hehe, I'm not even that good. Doing it traditionally is much easier for me.
