The silence was unnatural, and it sent shivers down Terra’s spine.
There should be the calls of the night owls, the hunters… Where are they? The thought made her glowing eyes dart around. The black silhouettes that walked in a tight group around her didn’t fear. –She began to see their markings. Red. Fire.
The group consisted of brutish, overly strong wolves who’d slaughtered the Alpha of Terra’s pack and taken her hostage. Their markings showed something that made her heart race faster. Like the thump of a scared rabbit’s foot. The symbols were strange, weirdly twisted into patterns. But the red meant they were her pack’s sworn enemies, and they controlled the fire element.
“Move it!” A male, red eyes glinting evilly, jaws salivating, and markings on his face and ears much like her own, shouted behind her. A heavy buffet sent her staggering forward, and the other Nova’s silently sidled closer. The leader, just ahead of her, had a thick dorsal stripe of red, and red Tiger-like stripes down his tail. His feet were crimson as well. He swung his head around, the red slashes (which looked eerily like he’d gotten clawed by a Tisu on both cheeks) glowed lava-red.
“Shut it, pup. She’ll move faster or she’ll die,” With that wonderful pep talk, which made Terra tremble further, he turned back and trotted faster, making up for lost time. A few Nova’s looked her way, but most stared straight ahead, moving faster until they ran.
Not a sound was heard, the silence resumed. And Terra followed suit.
