Number of Pup:
#2
Name:
Gaurav
(Pride - Respect)
Gender:
Male ♂ ~ Light Blue Eyes
History/Short Story:
Gaurav snuggled into his mother's fur, shivering from cold breezes that entered the small room unnoticed. He lifted his head to see that he was the only one in the room, other than his mother, who was gazing gently down at him. He took another look around before asking, "Where is everyone, mama?"
"They're outside the dens playing, I wanted to let you sleep," she said as she licked his little head. He got up, and looked back at his mother, before padding quickly outside the room, and into the corridor. Though the dens were complex, he knew his way around like the back of his paw. He quickly made his way outside, to see his brothers and sisters tumbling over each other in the grass. As he ran over, his siblings kept their distance from him. Gaurav put his head down in shame. Being as he was the runt of the litter, he was the outcast of the group. As he was looking out into the great expanse of his home, his father crept up and surprised him with a light cuff on the ear. Gaurav looked up at his father kindly as he was pulled close. As his father turned his head to watch the other pups play, he turned back to gaze upon the land, and spotted a dark shape moving in the direction of the dens. He squinted his eyes, not able to tell what it was at that great of a distance. Suddenly, he spotted another. Then, one by one, they appeared over the horizon. "What are those?" he asked his father urgently.
"Kronadors! Pups, get inside, to your mother, quickly!" his father growled harshly as he rushed inside the dens. Gaurav couldn't move, he was frozen in fear. He's only heard about the Kronadors in the stories and fables he heard from his mother. Now, it wasn't a story, and he knew that there was going to be war. His siblings and father had already rushed inside, along with the rest of the wolves. The large group of Kronadors rushed toward him, hissing violently. The leading one launched itself at Gaurav, jaws open, ready to clamp down on the tiny pup. Right before the Kronador could reach him, his father rushed out of the den in his battle armor, and tackled it. More wolves came pouring out of the den, also in their armor, and knocked over their enemies, swiping at their necks. Gaurav's father gave a look at his son that said, 'Go inside, now!' before he jumped back into the fray.
The pup scrambled back into the dens, and was pulled to the safety of the inner corridors by his mother. His siblings were all huddled together in fright as they listened to the sounds of war echoing through the dens. Gaurav looked up to see his mother's angry stare, and hung his head in shame. "Why didnt you follow your siblings? You could've been killed!" she growled. The sweeter of his two sisters padded over to him and comforted him. He buried his face into her fur, feeling useless. As their mother left to go check on the battle, a small kronador who had snuck in, watched the defenseless pups, a murderous look in its eyes. Gaurav felt something was wrong, and pricked his ears uneasily. He raised his head and let out a small growl. One of his brothers stepped closer in the direction of the kronador, unaware of the danger he was in, and the kronador jumped around the corner and towards the sibling.
Gaurav, knowing he couldnt push the enemy down like his father, and instead rammed himself into his sibling, pushing his brother out of harms way. The kronador turned and hissed distastefully, and made a swipe at both the pups, that missed by only inches. Before it could make another swipe, the pups' mother had came back, growling protectively, and launched herself at the kronador's throat, jaws ready to clamp down. Another wolf also made its way into the room, and began to usher the pups into a different room, blocking their view of the fight. Gaurav's siblings, instead of keeping their distance like they normally did, stayed close by, especially the brother that he had saved. He lifted his head, feeling pride for once in his life. He always knew what his name meant, but now he knew that he deserved it.
As the sounds of war grew farther and farther away, he knew his tribe was successful at driving off the invaders. He thought about himself fighting a kronador, but he just couldnt picture it. But then he thought again... Gaurav knew he could. He just had to try...
After training, he trained again and again with the next groups until he got the right movements. His trainer was surprised to see him there the whole day, but knew it had paid off for the pup.
"Sweep left," his trainer called. The pup slipped, but regained his pose, and did a quick sweep. He corrected himself so fast, not even his trainer noticed. "Quick jump," he called. The pup easily managed this, being the easiest of the moves, yet the most potent. If your opponent tried to trip you, you could easily jump and avoid it. From fighting with his litter-mates, he knew, once you were on the ground, you were dead. "Grab a partner and train," the trainer called, the last task before the session ended. Gaurav teamed up with the strongest pup there was. The stronger pup, thinking he could take the runt down easily, forward tackled Gaurav. The runt easily dodged the bigger pup, and used the forward momentum of him to counter, and send his partner flying into the dust. As usual, Gaurav was victorious. Surprised at how quick Gaurav took down his opponent, his trainer padded forward, and dipped his head to the younger wolf. "Your already ready to get your armor... But you still need to wait until your old enough," he smirked, lifting his head a bit.
With that boost of self-confidence, he led the pups. Though he was a runt, he could think things through, and his mother knew that. She watched him, her heart swelling with pride for her pup. 'He would make a great leader...' she thought to herself. Gaurav spent his days observing and discovering many things, until he knew all the surroundings he stood by, and all the escape routes. He couldnt wait until he himself could protect his own pups, like his father had protected him. He wanted to be an adult, so he could fight for his tribe. Gaurav didnt want to grow up at the same time. He liked to not have to fight, to have his father and mother fight for him, and he liked being the leader of his siblings. He knew that when he got his real armor, he would only be another warrior, another pawn. He wouldn't be a leader of any kind. Gaurav accepted that fact though, and kept that in mind, as he treasured the fact that as long as he was still a pup, he was still the leader.
He trained with his siblings in his wooden training armor, always trying his best, while others were slacking off. Gaurav was so intent and focused with his training, that even senior warriors were impressed, especially his father, whom didnt expect much from his runt son. Though his father never said it, his son knew he was proud of him. He felt it. Sometimes he even felt the jealousy of his brothers and sisters through their burning stares. Every time he knew someone was jealous of him, he felt happy. Happy to know that they were jealous of the runt of the litter. He was an example to all, that even runts could be the best, if they tried hard enough. He didn't like to show off, but it was hard not to.
A month later, he stood at the entrance of the cave. The very cave that many of his ancestors had been through. The cave where he would soon get his armor... He breathed deeply before he set his first paw inside. "This step is the end of being a pup," he whispered. "This step is the beginning of becoming a warrior," he continued as he put another paw in. He took another deep breath. "This step is the beginning of fighting against the kronadors, and fighting for my tribe," he went on, putting his next paw in. "And this step is the beginning of getting my armor... This step is where I begin," he breathed as he put his last paw in, and began to pad forward slowly into the darkness of the cave.
(I know its not that long, but I put a lot of effort into making it.)
Personality:
Gaurav isnt the type who likes to take orders from others, and he's very stubborn when it comes to this. He's goofy and outgoing, always wanting to take first shift for gaurding, and volunteering for any kronador raids. When it comes to doing a duty for the tribe, he's very loyal, and wont let you down. He's also very determined, and once he sets his mind on something, he keeps at it until he finally completes the goal.
