Username: Raindrop
Pup/Parent Wanted: 4
Pup/Parent Name: Triiox
Pup/Parent's Personality:
Triiox is generally reserved and cautious, and does not communicate much with anyone, due to an incident that occurred one day. He rarely smiles, and is only in good moods occasionally.
Pup/Parent's Story:
Triiox sniffed at the dark, murky waters swirling around in the river. It gave off a dark and odd smell. Danger, it seemed to whisper into Triiox's ear.
Yet, Triiox, desperate to show his litter mates that he would not be the runt of the litter, climbed the nearest tree, which was just above the surface of the river, and patiently waited for a fish to lurk by. He could not fly, as his wings were not developed enough to do so just yet.
An eternity seemed to pass by, before Triiox finally spotted his prey, a grey-and-black shadow, gliding gracefully among the water, its body colours blurred by the restless river.
Triiox maneuvered slowly toward the edge of the branch, which was starting to creak under his weight. Certainly, Triiox was a puppy, but the tree was young, not much older than the other trees in the area.
Creak. Creak. The tree's creaks were growing louder by the second, yet Triiox, too intent on his prey, did not notice them. He only did so when the tree gave a last, long creeaaakkk, did he realise the trouble he was in. Before he could do anything, though, the tree branch gave way under him.
Triiox gave a yelp of surprise, before spalashing into the swamp's river with a big splash. The young puppy struggled to keep his head above the water's surface. But the river did not yield to his wishes. It churned about, and splashed water into the young pup's face, causing him to be blinded for a few seconds.
Triiox knew the swamp too well. There were catfish in the swamp, bigger than all his litter mates put together, ferocious river fish, like piranhas and worst of all, the carnivorous fish. They weren't the biggest of the river fish, thank goodness, but they were still vicious. They ate anything that got in their way, and they would certainly not show mercy to a young pup like Triiox.
Triiox panicked, splashing the water with his paws, but it did nothing more than tire him out. He tried to calm himself down, but his panic returned to him when he saw the long, streamlined body gliding slowly toward him.
Triiox kicked out randomly at the figure looming before him, but he knew his efforts were in vain. A bunch of random kicks from a young puppy could annoy a river fish, but certainly could not wound it. Suddenly, Triiox realised that his destiny was to be ended here, alone in this horribly humid swamp by a big, gigantic river fish.
For a second, nothing happened. The river fish suddenly stiffened, glaring at its tail. A slightly smaller fish, which, to Triiox's shock, was the very one that he had been hunting earlier on, had its small and sharp teeth clamped onto the bigger fish's tail. The river fish tried to shake it off by thrashing around, but the smaller fish held on.
Triiox, too captivated by the thrashing fishes, snapped from his trance-like state and realised that the smaller fish was providing him a distraction so that he could get away. He started paddling with his paws toward the bank. where he would be safe from the predators hiding in the murk of the swamp's river.
Triiox panted, flopping onto the muddy ground. Swimming was not one of his hobbies, nor would it ever be, as the water would wet his wings until he could almost no longer stand up. Water-logged wings would take a long time to dry up, thus he despised getting wet. Triiox suddenly noticed the eerie silence that pierced the surroundings. He could hear no more of the two fishes.
He looked back. There was no sign of either fish anywhere nearby. Triiox's eyes widened. The smaller fish he had wanted to catch has saved him. And yet now it was gone. Maybe it had escaped from the bigger fish, but he couldn't know, and he didn't dare to go down into the water again to find out.
Triiox cautiously made his way down to the very edge of the bank, and briefly touched his nose to the tip of the water. Thank you, he thought in his head to the fish who had saved him, then padded off.
Other (Art, Dislikes, Likes, etc. Aren't required but it will boost your form): Triiox has a phobia of the water, and will not go anywhere near a water source, like a river or a lake, but tiny streams and puddles of water do not frighten him that much.
Would you like to see more bird-themed canines? (Y/N):
