Pekee was born an outsider, raised to be corrupted by anger towards the pridelanders. She and her brother, Rushwa, were the best fighters of their age and both strived to take over the pridelands as soon as they got the chance. One day, Pekee decided she could made her stand by stopping a pridelander patrol and confronting them but instead she found the clumsy son of the King. He struck up conversation immediately, telling her his name was Kitoto and that she looked funny. This only fueled Pekee's anger and she attacked him. Kitoto backed off then complemented her on her fighting. Pekee had never really been complemented before so she was confused but also admired the young cub's bravery to not run home crying like most pridelander cubs would. They talked for a bit and Pekee told Kitoto her name and how hard life in the outlands was. Kitoto was shocked and said that he'd tell his father and get it sorted out. While saying this he paused then told her how his dad wouldn't listen anyway. Pekee asked why and Kitoto said that because he was born with a black mane when nobody in his family was his father presumed him cursed and only kept him because he was the heir to the pridelands. Because his father thought he'd eventually go out of control he found him a mate who would keep him under control; Kivuli. Kitoto hated Kivuli with a passion and Pekee said she felt the same way about her brother. At this moment, Rushwa found them and attacked Kitoto then Pekee attacked her brother. The two siblings began arguing before Rushwa attacked Pekee and gave her a huge gash down her side. He flashed the pridelander a digusted look then gave the same look to his sister before running away.
Pekee didn't look at Kitoto but told him she had better go home and that she might see him again another time.
