- has a poor sense of direction, but the pin that holds his hood together is enchanted and it guides him home or something

In his culture, different classes and their apprentice levels have different names. For example, Kip here is a druid's apprentice. His level is "leafpicker", the first of the three levels of druid apprentices. He's close to getting to the second level and he's doing a terrific job so far.
