Raban is a demonic familiar, and a loyal servant of the Forgotten shadow. However, due to being a familiar, he is incapable of speech. Therefore, can't express his thoughts and feelings on how his master handles things. Although, that being said, his lack of speech doesn't make him any less useful. Mainly because he often acts as the corrupted god's 'eyes'. Helping the forgotten shadow keep track of events, his enemies plans and just time in general. Raban also happens to be the corrupted god's messenger, and often helps deliver his master's orders and messages to their many allies.
Now, Raban has become the permanent familiar of Finch, the forgotten shadows protégé. Often acting as the young demonic shapeshifter's guide and scout. Something that the familiar has come to greatly enjoy. Mainly because it gives him more of something to do, and actually allows him to get in with the action.
While Raban still can't talk, he has formed quite a close bond with both Finch and his former master. Due to the fact that the two can sense the familiar's emotions through their link, and therefore have a better idea of what Raban might be thinking and feeling. Thus, helping them know if something they do is wrong.
Raban is also a resurrected raven. Which is why he carries the Forgotten shadows marking on his chest.
