Raku worked for a spaceship-based organization which mined coal from giant meteors. He never did see the fire that fueled the ship, always assuming that it was not really his problem. He always felt more associated with rocks more than fire...but one day, that thought pattern changed with a giant inferno that not only consumed his friends, but his own mind's ideas of his work.

The space ship had a major issue from the power engine, and the fire got so powerful that it caused the ship to start imploding, causing more flames that consumed the whole ship due to the oxygen from inside. Raku was able to escape the flames by fleeing to where some of the miners were working on the meteor, but he was the only one to do so, leaving those still stuck on the ship to die.

Raku no longer works for the organization, instead keeping to himself and turning to a life of being a potter. He found the job a lot less stressful, and the ability to control fire to make art felt like he was doing good, and reversing the effects of that faithful day. Sometimes, he even thinks that the spirits from those who died on the ship are able to be kept safe in his pottery.
