Name meaning-
Guarin- "shelter"
Esmund- "gracious protector"
Rostislav- "to increase glory"

His name ends up being a poor translation of an ancient prophecy in a strange language. This is what it actually says:
"Shelter them, gracious protector, for they need time to increase glory to their former state"
... but the translators thought this line was the name of the ancient dragon and so thats how Guarin got his current name.

His original name is Stiv, but it's been so long he's forgotten this and identifies with Guarin.

He's an ancient drago that's survived into the future and now has to deal with all the scifi. He hates all the advanced technology and can be rather grumpy about it. He protects some kind of ancient artifact that recently become known and he has to fight off all the advanced tech that's trying to retrieve it, whilst still trying to keep his existence a secret for fear of his life.
