As a pup, Faustus was taught to live by what everyone else saw was normal. Social norms were drilled into his head by everyone, whether that be his parents or strangers. No one ever quite understood how much of a toll this did on Faustus. Naturally, he was always different than many others. He had his own style, consisting of piercings, Gothic designs and he always had a thing for growing out his mane long. He wasn't the type to look particularly "manly", and never cared for putting on a happy mask when he had nothing to be joyous about. He also had another thing to hide from everyone-- his sexual orientation. Even Faustus himself didn't understand his feelings since he was taught they weren't normal as a pup. As he grew and made friends, particularly when he met Ambrier, a whole new world opened up to him.
Ambrier taught him that different was good, and that not everyone was the same. They grew attached to each other quickly. Although Faustus still feels insecure and can't get over some of his fears, he is much more confident around his mate and is able to live comfortably. If he is pushed too far by others, instead of hiding and feeling down, he fights back and stands up for himself. He no longer conforms to what others see as "normal".
