This is a chestnut. Horse genes for a chestnut are ee. This is a dominate base, while if you make a capital e, it then turns to a black horse, as it restricts the Agouti gene to show through (ee), while EE is a Homogeneous black, a dominant black is Ee.
A Homogeneous black that breeds with another homogeneous black is always gonna have a black foal
while EE x Ee there is a 25% chance of a chestnut foal. This is where Friesian horses come in. They are dominantly black horses, and you wonder where the rare chestnut one's come? This is why! A Ee black Friesian will breed with a Ee Friesian or a EE Friesian and then they have a chance of producing a chestnut (ee) offspring!
This is counted as a base coat, along with black.
ee, Ee, and EE are all base coats and everything else relies on them!
Ee x Ee= 50% chestnut 50% black
EE xEE= 100% black (EE)
Ee x EE= 25% chestnut 75% black
ee x EE=100% black (Ee)
ee x Ee=50% chestnut 50% black
ee x ee=100% chestnut
