The Ever
I'll update with little blurbs about each decoration as I go.
A pond has welled up at the edge of this Ever. It's filled with bright, clear water, and pretty, pale pink water lilies. The surface is dotted with the wide green leaves. A few have flower buds, and many have already bloomed. The clear waters pour steadily over the edge of the Ever. The lilies fill the air with a soft, sweet smell, and the waterfall produces a lulling, rushing sound. The pond is never murky, despite the smooth sand and silt at the bottom, and it never empties. The lilies bloom year-round and you never see them wilt. Perhaps during the sleepy midnight hour, a lily or two will drop, and be carried down to some unknown destination by the waterfall. By daybreak, only the stalk remains, and in no less than a week, that too is gone. A few flower petals have gone down with the water, among the large curls of mist swirling around the falls, but the lilies in the pond always seem to be immaculate. How intriguing.
Small clumps of powdery blue mushrooms have popped up all over the soft green grass. These mushrooms glow and twinkle merrily at night, with the rushing of the falls and the smell of lilies as a soothing backdrop. The mushrooms are all shapes and sizes, from round caps to swirly and flat, with stubby stalks, or long and elegant stalks. Glowing spores filter from the mushrooms at night. They resemble stars, and dust the grass and lilies, lighting and outlining each with a delicate, light, edged with blue. The pond swirls with faint, watery light, and the waterfall is outlined and streaked with the same light. Indeed against, the dark grass at night, the spores make the ground look like a piece of the night had been plucked from the sky and spread on the ground. The spores will soothe and calm any creature who inhales them. In fact, by midnight, only the most resolute of any living being can stay asleep. One would truly have to be extraordinarily gifted and/or stubborn to stay up until dawn, at which the "stardust" stops drifting around and get carried off by the breeze.
If you looked off the side, or glanced at the Ever from a different Ever, it would be easy to spot the latest strange addition. If you were close enough, you could hear the ticking. Just a soft, quiet, ticking noise, that reminds most of quiet evenings, or the late night hours, when everything is still and silent. So silent that you can hear the clock. But the more noticeable thing is the clock itself. It appears to be made of shining white light, or magic of some sort. The clock appears to be held up by threads made of the same shining light. These threads are decorated with something that no one can quite place. Some would argue that they were beads. Some would argue that they were feathers. Nevertheless, they are beautiful. At every hour, the clock chimes. It plays a full, beautiful song of soft chimes and quiet bells that lasts no more than a minute. This song rarely disturbs. It's more like background music that the mind just quietly stores away without thinking about it. However, at midnight, it plays a richer, deeper song. At that time, for whatever reason, the mushrooms dim down just a little, and the stardust swirls in the air, creating a perfect sleeping environment. When the clock becomes quiet, then one can be almost sure that the Ever will be silent, all its inhabitants fast asleep.
