I was outside one night when I heard a small neigh,
I looked around and found a little face,
Hiding behind the old pile of hay.
Laying on the snow so white,
A foal a shadow of the night.

She was starting to get cold
So I got a blanket of wool.
To rap around this little foal
To keep her dry and warm.

Now everyday I see a mare,
The shadow of that day.
With snowy face and a gray brown coat,
She'll be beauty if she may.
