She's female, and she was bred in a laboratory, where they were testing how to make unusual coloured rats. She escaped one day , when she was about 3 months old, when some of the 'workers' unlocked the animal's cages because they didn't agree with testing on animals. Dogs had been stationed at the only escape route, so she had hidden in a hole in the wall that surrounded the facility until the dogs and workers had left.
She had traveled the streets for a long while, looking for a place that she could live happily in. Eventually, all she found was an old cardboard box that had a sheet of plastic over the top to protect from rain, and a hole in the bottom so she could enter and exit it.
She had been living there for a few months when a child of about 14 years of age found her, and took her in, persuading her parents to keep her.
She has lived there since, and she is now 11 months old.
