A light she-wolf was sitting in an open field. The stars shone brightly on the grass, waving and brushing against her purple flanks if in the cool breeze. She had her eyes closed, though her muzzle was pointed upward at the nightsky as if she could still see it.
As the wind blew through her purple pelt and grey hair, she could finally let go of the pain that speared her heart everyday; every night she came out there. She often came out to this meadow, though it gave her heart a scar everytime she saw it in the moon's light. But when she closed her eyes and let the breeze tell her who she was, she could forget.
On the other side of the meaddow, a group of four wolves was clustered around a dark brown-pelted brute. He hushed for them to be quiet, his happiness undisguised by the big smile across his muzzle. He motioned with his tail for them to leave, leaving just him and the she-wolf left in the meadow.
He galloped through the grass, but when he got closer to her her treaded quickly, but lightly, over the grass. "Alcie,".
Alcatracie's turqoise eyes blew open, as if she had heard someone announcing they had come to slay her. Her head whipped around to look over her shoulder, her whole body shaking.
He stood there calmly, and expectantly, a smile on his face. "Russbin," she said, surprised.
Something in his big blue eyes changed. "Something's different."
"Of course something's different," Alcatracie replied, standing up and turning around to face him. "You left."
"But I came back," Russbin responded, taking a step forward.
Alcatracie said nothing, but it was that silence tht gave Russbin his anwser. "I did what I said, I repaid my debt and I came back to you. Why would you think I betrayed you!"
"It was those hills or me!" Alcie cried out, one of the few times Russbin had seen her upset. She was biting her tounge so hard to keep the tears from slipping down her muzzle. She took in a shaking breath, and her voice cracked as she said, "And you chose the hills."
An icy silence gripped the air, and Alcatracie turned her head away, closing her eyes. Russbin lowered his head, glaring at her. "It's not like I'm going to go back because you reject me," he told her. "I'm staying with the pack."
When Alcatracie said nothing more, Russbin turned and stalked back towards the forest. She opened her ice eyes, glancing back at him and watching for the few heartbeats before he disappeared into the trees. She immediately collapsed onto her belly, tears rolling down her face as she weeped loudly. He knew I couldn't come back to him! He knew it and he still came!
