History:
RJ was the third born in a litter of four, and she seemed to be the weakest. For days she was thought to be on the verge of death but somehow she seemed to keep living, and it wasn't until her eyes opened and she gained her mobility that she started to thrive. She was still smaller and more lithe than her siblings but she was no longer as weak. As she grew her eyes often turned to the sky, and she found her inspiration to survive there. She wanted to be able to one day have a companion who she could enoy the skies through, and she trained herself unmercilessly. Spending long hours everyday training and working endlessly, she would drop into sleep after the sun had long gone done, and walk up with the first glimpse of light to start all over again. Even now she is training ad perparing for the day she battles the Sabertooth tiger. She truly hopes to live up to the name she was gifted with, as it means "Silver Hunter of Eagles"
Story?:
((This happens after the above, right around the time she battles the tiger))
Late one dark, cloudy night, she stole through the shadows, a small bag clenched tightly in her teeth. Eyes wide and wary, she watched for any signs of someone following or even noticing her. But she continued on her mission, her darker colored coat allowing her to blend freely with the black shadows that lingered everywhere.
But soon she was far enough away from her home she could relax, at least a little. She still needed to be aware and cautious, but soon she came to the small cave she'd built into a home away from home.
Inside a small fire flickered, the barely there embers caused her to move faster. She dropped the sack, and moved over to fan the flames, adding kindling, and more logs. Soon the fire was greedily licking at the dry wood, and she sighed. Then she turned to her young ward.
A tiny little thing, all pink skin and a few feathers of fluff. She nosed the baby, caused the young one to open wide eyes, and screech happily. Poor thing, didn't know any better. She wasn't its mama, but she didn't know what else to do with the baby falcon.
She checked it over, making sure the injuries from it's fall from its nest were healing, and then she proceeded to feed the bird. It quickly consumed a far amount of the meat she'd brought with her, and it cooed softly, nuzzling against her as its full tummy made the bird sleepy.
She lay there, cuddling the little thing for a few hours, but she knew she needed to get back before her absence was noted. She tucked the baby in the swaddling cloth she'd brought, and gave it a good-bye lick. "I'll back soon." she whispered. Then she disappeared back into the night.
She'd been leaving her home in the middle of the night for weeks now, but no one had even noticed. Her baby was growing up, almost completely full grown. She fought back a tired smile, knowing she only had a few more weeks to keep up the charade before she slayed her Sabertooth tiger and she'd be able to bring home her baby. slipping through the night once again, she came to her cave, and entered quickly. The place was a mess!
She looked around, finally noting her "baby" was trying to fly. She sighed, and dropped the bag of meat, and the bird looked up, and squawked happily, seeing her. The still small bird hopped over to her, nuzzled her, and dug into the food.
She laid down, yawning widely, when the baby spoke for the first time.
"How come you have to leave during the day?" The voice was not that of a baby, or even of a girl! It was a deep male voice, shocking her. She jerked, blinking done at her baby.
Shocked she could only utter, "Uh..?" The baby shook his head, "I want to be with more than just at night. Soon I'll be able to fly as strongly as the wind, and I want to be able to go with you when you leave."
Still in shock, she could only think of how this would play out. "You're a boy?" The falcon blinked up at her, a slightly annoyed look in his eyes, "Yes, I am a male, you are a female." She blinked, "I raised you." He shot back, "Exactly, I want to be with you more than just at night."
She groaned, surely this wasn't going to be her life from now on, was it? It was.
((Leaving off there. If I win her, I'll finish up through her battle with the Sabertooth Tiger.))
