History/Story:
The day was nice, the sun's rays shined on her beautiful mother's pelt. Midnight was laying beside her family while they waited for her father to return from the hunting patrol. She sighed in relaxation as she let her muscles go limp as she listend to the whispers of the river and the chirping of the morning birds. She wondered how anything could be more beautiful than the sights and sounds of nature. Just then she saw the hunting patrol return and watched the muscular Hunter T.O.S. wolves walked by and admired their skill and strength, for she dreamed of becoming one of them. While she watched them pass by, she realized her father was nowhere in there, and this made her nervous. Her father was always in there, trotting proudly with fresh caught prey or dragging a plump elk. She immediately rushed up to her mother.
"Mom! MOM!" Midnight yipped, "Could dad have had been banished? Could he have gotten injured?"
"He's fine, he might just be chatting again with Alpha. No worries." Her mother gently replied, but Midnight did not believe any word. Instead she trotted up to Alpha, who her mother just said he was talking to. This gave her even more worries.
"Hey, Alpha. Have you seen my dad?" Midnight yipped at her leader.
"Yes, he is just resting by the other river, he worked exceedingly hard today. He'll be back soon." Her leader looked her in the eyes and gave her a reassuring gentle nudge.
"Thanks, Alpha." Midnight still felt uneasy, the other river was farther away, and it was also the border between them and their rivals. It was dangerous over there, so she raced in the direction of the river, ready to face a full grown wolf if one had ever hurt her beloved father.
Midnight soon arrived at the riverbank, but didn't see her father anywhere. She decided to wait for her father, for he must have gone to hunt something for himself, it was just how he was. She waited there for almost an hour, or possibly longer. She jumped on all fours and realized she must have dozed off. But what had woken her up? There it was again, a yowl. It wasn't any cat's yowl, in fact, it wasn't a cat. It couldn't be. She stood there, waiting for it to yowl again, and of course, it did. Now she knew...it was her father, and he was in trouble. He must have fallen in the river! He must have been attacked! He must have...Another loud screech right across from her interrupted her thoughts. She could now see her father across the river with another figure on top of him. Midnight yelped and tried to jump across the river, but then thought better of it. If only I were big enough!! She yowled for help and it seemed like hours until she heard a howl back, and then her mother rushed out of the bushes and jumped into the river, almost being swept in the undercurrent until she grasped the other side and rushed to her father's rescue. Midnight's heart was beating so fast she thought it would pound right out of her chest. Her father's screeches of pain made her heart sink and more tears flow out. If only she could help, if only she were strong enough to jump right over there and run over to help. She felt helpless and sat there watching having no way to help. The other pack's wolf smacked her mother back and then grabbed her father and threw him into the river.
"YOU BEAST!!!!" Midnight yowled and rushed back towards where the camp was and saw Alpha darting out of bushes. "Hurry! He's in the river! I wish I could help!!"
Alpha immediately picked up his pace and tried his hardest to grab her father's scruff, but he fell underneath the current and vanished. Midnight glanced at her mother in horror. She was helpless, how could she be so helpless?! Her mother rushed over to her and carried her back home, letting Alpha take care of the situation, for everybody knew, no one had ever survived the river once their head was under. When they got back her mother sat her down with tears about to burst, and said to her softly, "He may be gone, but he will never fade in our hearts."
"But how can I live without a father?! I will never be happy again!" Midnight sobbed.
"This is the time where only time and tears can heal..." Her mother replied softly and carried her into the den to rest.
A year passed by, and now Midnight was full grown. Midnight was out hunting when a fox ran right into her cluelessly, and seemed to be in a hurry or was just plain clumsy.
"You do realize you ran into me right?" Midnight chuckled.
"Oh, sorry..." The fox replied.
"It's fine."
"Who are you, where do you come from?" The fox randomly asked.
"Midnight. I'm a T.O.S. wolf, soon I am going to be fighting that saber-toothed tiger."
"Saber-tooth!! Aren't you scared?!"
"No. I'm already stronger than most of the males in my pack, I'm the strongest female known in my pack."
"Hm."
"What's up with your two tails?" Midnight asked, shocked when she realized.
"It's a strange growth isn't it?"
The two chatted for a while, and soon became good friends after a couple of months and soon the two-tailed fox became her companion, and the two worked together in training and hunting. But soon came the day of the saber-tooth tiger.
"It's time, I've got to go." Midnight told her companion and nuzzled his cheek.
"I know you'll win! Don't you doubt it or else...you know."
"I know." Midnight sighed and ran into the ring, giving one last glance back at her companion. "See ya."
