TIME; TEENAGE YEARS.
The chilling wind pressed Hikaru's fur back against his large, strong body. The cold sent shivers up his spine, and he shook. He squinted his eyes against the harsh blow, gazing down from his mountain perch onto the green meadow below. He searched for any signs of movement. His ears, perfectly intact, flicked every which way, intently listening for a howl of any of his teammates. He wasn't supposed to be here.
Hikaru wasn't full-grown, let alone trained for battle. He had snuck out during the night with some of his friends, secretly, in search of the enemy. The pack had recently been attacked, killing a good friend of his, and he wanted revenge. He began to doze off, thinking about the night of his friend's death. He floated into the memory...
"Hikaru!" Mekoro had called. Go! Protect the litter!" He was referring to the newly born litter of pups. The mother was weak, and could not protect herself or her pups. I raced off, obeying him, directly in front of her. She had a cut on her belly, and I roughly licked it. The taste of the blood was still warm. Her pups yowled, eyes still closed shut, full with fear, even of what they did not know. They didn't know what horror was going on around them. I whipped around, and I heard it. A sound I never wish I had heard. The sound of Mekoro's final scream.
Hikaru's eyes began to slightly water. "Stupid wind, It's blowing too hard in my eyes." he muttered, refusing to admit that he was crying, even when nobody was there, just to himself. Before he could do anything else, something caught his eye. It was a dark shape in the corner behind him...A dark shape with razor-sharp claws, long, bloodthirsty fangs, and menacing pale eyes. There it was.
Hikaru almost buckled down to the ground at the sight. The enemy's blackish hue glowed in the moonlight, and the white color of its eyes stared directly into Reikou's soul. Itr let out a deep, raspy growl, that almost seemed like it was saying "Hello, Dinner. What are you doing out here all alone, with nobody to hear you scream?"
Hikaru was slightly trembling. His heart pounded in his chest, begging to be let out and run for it's life. He tried to be brave, to be a warrior, but he failed. The 'Mighty Roar" he tried to yell sounded more like a kitten who slipped in a puddle. The enemy grinned and let out a blood-curdling yowl, which sent shivers through Hikaru's whole, weak body. It began to crawl forward, right in front of Hikaru. Hikaru looked around, trying to find a path to his escape, but he was cornered on the edge of the cliff. "Mekoro, should I just give up?" He cried in his head.
TIME; Present.
Hikaru shivered at the memory. The pale white of the unknown creature's eyes stuck with him always, and reminded him that he almost gave up. It reminded him of the pain, the suffering, and then the final triumph. He was glad he didn't give up. Those eyes popped into his head before every battle he went into, and he made a promise to do the same, and to encourage the rest of his pack not to give up.
After his encounter with the enemy, and after he had dragged it's lifeless body with him back to the pack, he had become something new. People didn't think of him as the 'misbehaving pup' or the 'troublesome mess' anymore. They respected him. Mekoro, the Alpha, was like Hikaru's best friend before he was killed. He trained him, played with him, and acted like a father to him. And that is what Hikaru considered him as. On the tragic night of his death, Hikaru was beside himself. After the battle was over, he resided to his den for weeks. Barely drinking, not eating, never sleeping. When finally, he had a vision. This was not one due to lack of nutrients and sleep. In this vision, Mekoro came to him. He told him to go out. He didn't say where, so Hikaru ran. He ran as far as he could, till his legs couldn't move. He ended up on that cliff.
Hikaru now understood why Mekoro had him go out. He had always told Hikaru he was born to be something, and that night proved to the pack that Hikaru was in fact the next Alpha. As soon as he was old enough, He became the Alpha of the pack. He is a good leader, always making sure the pack was fed and healthy. When the time for battle came, he brought them in, and out again with barely a scratch on their shoulder. He was always attached to one female, and one day, they had a litter of pups together.
Six, healthy, spunky pups ran close to them, playing and yelping, happy to finally be out of the nursery in which they stayed for so long. "Daddy, Mommy!" One pup called.
"What is it, sweetie?" His mate said, nuzzling the small pup on the side.
"When do we get to go out there?" He said, pointing his nose to a small hollow where the prey was plentiful.
Hikaru smiled. "That is where you will learn to hunt."
"I'm going to be the best hunter there is!" The pup stated proudly, before another one protested, saying that he would be the best. The two got in a tumbling play fight. A female pup lay next to Hikaru. "Daddy, We have a good life." She said contently.
He smiled. "Yes we do."
{ -Sorry for the abrupt ending. I have a major case of writers block right now. >.< - }
Natural-born Leader
Hikaru was born to be a leader. He is extremely regal, some may call him 'kingly'. He is very clever and strategic. He can lead his pack in and out of battle without fail. He is brave and strong, and tough, with a hard shell. He almost never cries, he is a true warrior.
Loyal
Hikaru refuses to leave the side of somebody he loves or cares about. He would never abandon anybody or anything. He is extremely faithful, especially to his family.
Caring
Though he may seem cold in battle, he is the most caring guy you could ever find. He worries about the littlest things. A small cough or a light scrape, he always makes sure whatever happened is fixed and taken care of.
