"Well Remin," Jaali replied. "Yes I had hoped you had forgotten."
"Oh no Jaali no one is forgotten," Remin replied. "But I see you have a pupil."
"I always have a student," Jaali said coldly to the dog. Ria stood to one side holing her breath. Was this the toxicity that was in the tales? The one that stole teacher's lives just before they taught the final lesson so no cat could become a Darkness Warrior?
"Well as I'm sure you have guessed Jaali," the Toxicity smiled. He flexed his claws. Ria stood wide eyed. Her teacher was going to die! "It is your time."
The Toxicity lunged at Jaali. The old teacher put up a terrible fight. Once the dog had decided his work was done he ran off. Ria hurtled herself to where her teacher lay bleeding.
"Ria don't fear for me," he whispered. "I will guide you from the stars. Even Toxicity's powers have a limit. You will become a Darkness Warrior. I promise"
Ria felt his life force begin to fade.
"Jaali I will never forget what you have taught me!" She screamed once he had gone. "Never!"
Suddenly she felt very alone. She whispered a few words into his ear.
"Good bye father."
