What I really want to do were tips for a mouse:
You look like your using the smooth and straight line tools to maintain your shape. When drawing with a mouse, this can be beneficial if you know how to use it. I used to use these, but then saw they weren't very realistic. You would do better to draw with the mouse itself and sketch out what you want and then add a layer on top for lines. When you draw these lines, draw them normally, but put smooth all the way up or highish in your brushes palette. The lines will lag after your mouse, so be prepared for that.
Tips for a tablet:
I can't really give you a lot until I actually see you draw with a tablet. All I know is that it will take you a while to get used to the tablet's orientation to your screen. This could take a few days to more than a week.
