Don't worry about it, It took me forever just to learn how to make paint horses, and I'm still not very good at it :3.

Have you tried using the Airbrush and setting it to 255 on opacity and choosing a size you like and then spraying it that way? Or you could change the opacity on the Airbrush to 125(Or what ever you like) which is almost half of 255, and setting scattering and spacing to a precentage you like depending how close you want the dapples. I recomend spacing at 95% and scattering at 938%, for that method.

but with a dark head/first half of the body that gets lighter towards the rump
