[The wild one]

Jedediah looked down at his paws. They were covered with blood. Xander's blood. He looked away from the crimson pool. He had tried to save his sire, but there was no use. The Alpha was gone. He let a quiet sob escape his mouth.
"J-Jed. . . ?" a voice said. Jedediah turned his head to look at the person who'd spoken. It was the only human in the pack, Melanie.
"Yes, love?" he asked quietly. Melanie's face was streaked with tears. She'd obviously been crying.
"I want him back," she said, her voice catching in her throat. Jedediah felt like his heart had literally broken. He hated to see the eight year-old like this.
"I'm sorry, Mel. He can't come back. He's gone," he murmured. Melanie sobbed.
"No! No! Don't say that!" she cried, "He'll be back! He always comes back when we need him!"
"I'm sorry," he said again. Jedediah looked up at the stars, then threw his head back and howled, hoping that his sire's spirit would hear him.

Jedediah singing to General Xander after he was killed. Yes, in Revolt! Xander does die. But, he doesn't stay dead for long =D. Melanie is Jed and Xander's "little girl" and Xander had promised that he'd always come back to her, which is why she can't believe he's dead.
