You say that your art is too cutesy for your tastes. I think it mainly looks cute because of all the round shapes you use. You could make your people look less cutesy by making the features more squareish or by making the face/nose longer

my style is not realistic or anything,, but i'll put it out here

i generally don't draw eyes, and when i do, i never do pupils on humans, unless their face is showing somehow (i do pupils on humanoids tho). if i draw using a ref pic (drawing a videogame char, commission) is an exception. so i always start with something to cover the eyes OR nose + mouth(hair, a coat, box etc). Also, I don't like drawing hair and Knife kid is the only person I've drawn who doesn't wear anything. The sizes I use are kind of fictional / cartoon, with the kids being very small (think of the proportions in Little Nightmares). I've never drawn an adult with normal proportions. Although I use a style that is much more cartoon, feel free to incorporate my methods
