It does not need a background, however it can add to the image's quality.

I'm not quite sure when it's going to open yet, but it shouldn't be too long before it does. Maybe on January 2nd.

Not a problem. Take your time on it. The contest should go on for quite a while, simply for the fact that I like it when people color my line art, and I want to give as many people as possible an opportunity to enter.

Gem Gold is the currency I will be using for my Gem Shop when it opens. There's a link to the discussion thread in my signature as well as an example of a solitary gem.

Gem Tickets, are the tickets you may enter into raffles for rare/one-of-a-kind/special-edition items/gems.
