Ive had maybe 5 Bettas when I was little, but now that im older I have 3 fish, an algae eater named Goku (my bro named it) A red eyed tetra named Flame, and a Blue/red/purple Betta named Tom, Ive had Tom for about a year now, he loves people, every time you walk by his tank he swims right up to you

Im sorry to hear about your fish
TIPs FOR KEEPING A BETTA:
~Never stick two bettas of the same gender in the same tank, unless they are separated. The fish will fight and kill each other (Hence the name, Japanese Fighting Fish)
~Do not stick a male and female in the same tank unless you want little baby Bettas swimming around
~Feed a Betta every other day and clean it's tank at least once a week to avoid disease and overeating
~Check under your Betta's belly at least a couple times a month for Ick (It shows up as little white dots, and is fatal to really any species of fish. If your Betta comes down with Ick, take it to a vetrinarian or your local pet shop (Wherever you happened to get the fish)
Hope that helps
