Remember to attach ears at the correct anatomical base. This is usually near the upper sides of the head. When drawing a character, it is always important to keep in mind how it would work and function so you know where to place and size everything. When I run into a species that I rarely draw, I sometimes sketch out the skull of it and look at photos of it so I know how it is proportioned. The shape of the ears is determined by every aspect of the animal's survival. For example, vampire bats have coned ears to catch sound to help with echolocation, but this could not be said for animals that rely more on sight, which would probably have larger, brighter eyes and smaller ears. Remember that in art everything is looked at as abstract shapes put together to make objects. For animals, this would be circles or triangles for the ears. Many animals ears curve backwards instead of flopping towards the ground/away from the head or sticking strait up and ears' bases do not touch.
I hope that might somehow help. If you need something more specific or would rather me show you visually on this character, I'd be happy to help. :)
