Redline?

Postby Miyazaki » Thu Nov 14, 2013 9:01 am

Could someone (some people) redline this for me? Or maybe give me some tips?

Read this before redlining: Realistic art is not my style.I prefer drawing cute, partially realistic art. Realistic art is too frustrating for me to draw because once I plant in my mind that this is supposed to be realistic, I get really frustrated with myself because I am a perfectionist and very critical of myself. Also please note that I so not have a tablet, so it is extremely hard for me to sketch.

As for tips, I'd like to know how to shade. My goal is to make it to Intermediate before this time next year. I'd really appreciate any help with that.

For shading, color in the lines like you would for the actual color, but then lower the opacity. Then use the blurry-edged eraser to erase the areas where light would hit more directly.
As for the lines, try to use a smaller sized line, and so on. For cats, the ears are more or less rounded triangles, and the eyes are more almond shaped. The muzzle is a bit smaller, and the forehead is a bit longer. Try to make the tail smoother (It helps to imagine bones inside of the tail, then think 'Would bones be able to do this?' since bones aren't made of rubber).
All of these tips are basically just for a more realistic drawing- I'm not really sure what to do about cartoon drawings either.

I'm back, and better than before! (Or at least, I do hope so) Feel free to ask me questions, commissions are closed, and I'm really sorry to the few of you who requested them before I left. (Meaning the ones I never finished. Seriously, that was horrible of me. Sorry.)
