@booklover789 : To use lock alpha, click "lock alpha" in the layers box. When the box is checked, it will make it so that whenever you color on a line it will color on that line and pretty much any other lines that are on the same layer. Try coloring my lineart by first clicking the "color here" layer, then click lock alpha and then use the pencil tool and color over the cat fox thing. The color should change from grey to whatever color you chose, it will not go over the lines.

When people who make editables color their lines they probably do it so it's easier to color, that way some people don't have to struggle color inside the lines. I'm not really sure if this helps or if I was clear enough, I fail at explaining stuff.
