Link sucked in a deep strained, sad breath. The night was dark, and dank. The air was cold and seemed to slither around him like a serpant imbued with sadness. The poor lad had just been forced to listen to the cries of people burned.. he couldn't do anything... The HERO couldn't do anything..to save them, he was too late.
This scarred him..scarred him like the master sword has turned against him and sliced right through his heart.
"Come on girl..." He murmered, to his mare. She whinnied a bit in return, it was as if she understood him. For what it was worth, the Beauty did. She hurried on, a quickish trot, Link bobbed up and down as she did. The mare's movement's were smooth. Though she stopped dead in her tracks. 'What was that?' Link thought, he saw a black figure..it was odd, but familiar. Epona Reared suddenly and let out a shrill neigh. Link watched, a bit of blood trickled down her snout, she had been attacked..that was odvious, but how. Link than felt a slash, his back was cut open and he himself was thrown off his horse. He watched in horror, a Dark beast... a creature he had forgotton how to slay, it attacked him, ripping of the TOP HALF of his tunic. And leaving another gash on his arm.. it stung and burned like lava had been dripped onto his flesh. The monster, apparently was imbued with poison in it's claws. Link was confounded...he felt so weak..so powerless... his heart had been too broken by those screams for him to react correctly. The Beast continued to attack him, than Link heard another shrill Neigh.
"Epona?" He mumbled in a strained voice, he was in so much pain..so very much pain...His pretty blue eyes flickered over, Epona was galloping over.. 'fire in her eyes' She snorted angrily and reared at teh creature. It hissed at her and made a slash, getting her back leg and splattering a bit of blood onto Link. He himself was now filled with horror, he was in pain..his horse..his friend her blood and his own on him..the screams still echoeing in his ears.
"Gi-girl.." He whispered through gritted teeth as she fought the beast. All the while it tore her up but she fought bravely..like any Hero would wish he could. She snorted all the while, but her snorts were filled with pain..she wasn't immune to the poison in the monster's claws..she was slwoly getting hurt as well. Though finally, the mare defeated the creature, it fell to the ground wit a heavy thud. And bursted into familiar particle bits. Link watched his horse..his mare..his friend limp over to him, she had lost her saddle in the battle, Link winced as she nuzzled him, both friends were in pain.. He tried to get up, she whinnied sadly and tried to hlep him with her muzzle, finally he managed to get up, holding onto her neck for support. She whickered and turned slowly to her side, Link's hands moved along her back lower adn lower as her neck went out of reach. She odviously wanted him to ride her..hurt as she was. Link was touched by this..but refused. She snorted angrily as if saying.
"master..ride me, I'm okay..please..your hurt..we..we need help." finally he mounted her, barely, struggling to get onto the horse he was weak, his legs hurt, his arm and back stinging. He mounted the mare... and hunched over hanging onto her mane for dear life. The mare reared up, she was in pain..but they had made it through..or had they.....

The mare let out a whicker of approval. She was fine..it seemed, with one last sound of trumph, epona let her hooves hit teh ground..the mare was ignoring all pain, she simply galloped forward.
Where they were heading.. was a great question..somewhere, anywhere.... Link questioned..he was in pain...utter pain,
Epona had to be too, perhaps adrenaline works on horses liek it does on humans...-cough- Hylians. He finally saw a light up ahead, couldn't tell what it was, where it was...looked faintly familiar..perhaps it was just castletown and he was a bit, lost, but apon further observation, he realised where it was....
