Cyrus yawned and stretched his arms high above his head, sitting in the lonely hallway of the school. Not much people bothered him there. He was always one of the first people to get to the school, and he always handled it by chilling by himself in the hall, catching up on some lost sleep, finishing last bits of homework. Anytime a human came near him in the hall, though, and he would instantly bristle up defensively and grab his things. He would make a mad rush for the next hall, farther from the humans in their loud little groups. Ah, the good life, eh? He rubbed his brow as he looked at the block. Nearly time for school. He had to have schools there already. He stood up and pushed his things into his locker, which looked on the point of throwing his things out, and walked as calmly as possible through the stench-filled hallways to the outside. He stood at the top of the stairs that led up to the school's various double doors, his thick eyebrows together as he scanned the area for friends. Instantly, he spotted them - two blonde heads sitting on a bench. He smirked to himself and wandered over slowly, taking his time to skirt around the humans and try to sneak up on his friends.
Emery's tall, slim figure arose from a small, sleek black car in the school's parking lot, and she looked out upon the school with a slight hint of disgust hidden behind her sunglasses. Even though the sun hardly peeked through the clouds above, she wore her sunglasses. She was just that way sometimes. She grabbed her backpack from within the depths of her car, then slammed the door shut with an explosion so loud that most of the people already at the school turned to look at her. She glared nonchalantly as she shifted her sunglasses from her face to the safest pocket in her backpack. A few humans' gazes lingered on her, a few vampires turned away. She tucked a stray strand of hair back in its place and wandered towards where she knew her friends would be parked, as they usually were. "Hey, guys," she said softly as she neared her two friends who sat on the bench. She was more a friend with Yureka than Kai, but she loved them both like her own little siblings. "I'm surprised no one's here yet." She arched an eyebrow, looking around thoughtfully. She rubbed her arms and sat down by Yuri, feeling almost plain next to her model-like friend. Her own skin was sickly pale - like the tell-tale vampire - and her hair was dark auburn-brown. Her body was concealed by light gray skinny-fit jeans and a darker gray sweater, and of course her gray converse. Everything she wore was gray. She wasn't as vibrant as anyone else - she really fit into the background.
David hummed a happy little tune to himself as he walked calmly on down the sidewalk, his hands in his pockets and his huge backpack slung snugly over his shoulders. His hums transitioned to whistles halfway to the school, and his dark brown eyes softened. Last night, he had a very happy dream - well, not really a dram, since his dreams were the present and all, but whatever. In another town, not too far from his own, a vampire and a human hugged. It gave him hope for the future - yes, he was one of those people. He smiled to himself, hanging his head low and watching his feet as he entered the school grounds. "Greetings, movers and shakers," he said brightly as he stumbled upon his two friends - Peyton and Brycen. Literally, he stumbled. Too many rocks in the grass, he guessed. Whatever. He saw Brycen's handwriting in a notebook that Peyton flipped through, and he jumped to her side immediately. "Oooh, Brycen's deepest dreams, wishes, and secrets! Brycen has a diary! Brycen has a diary!" he sang to the world, his tone playful and jolly. He looked up at Brycen for a defensive second, knowing that he would get to his usual hotheadedness. He didn't want that - he was the kind of friend to try to coax you out of your bad habits. He smiled sheepishly and returned his gaze to the book, his eyes dancing curiously over the pages that Peyton gave him mercy to look at. "These are cool. Why haven't I seen them?" He looked up to Brycen, his eyes playfully wide. "You only show your deep side to the girls!"
Kalliope Echo Raye, being the odd child she was, sat in a tree in the school's yard - one of the two only trees, in fact. She was there since six-thirty AM, since the tree was "such a prime spot," wide awake and bright-eyed. She was doodling in one of her many treasured notebooks, waiting for more people to show up in the solitude of the tree's branches and leaves. She heard her friends come one by one, but decided to wait for a bit - she liked gathering background information before popping onto the scene like an unwanted relative, you know, that aunt with the giant mole with three hairs sticking out of it. Yeah, that unwanted relative. Her eyes raised from her notebook to her friends, listening to the game Brycen played with Peyton, then the singing that David so kindly did for the world, and she smiled. She had seen Brycen's drawings and poetry and lyrics many times - she loved them, in fact. She rubbed her temples and focused on Brycen's voice, jumping out of the tree and sneaking behind it. "Guess who?" she called, her voice the exact copy of Brycen's. She hid, then waited a few moments. She walked closer to her friends, her eyes cheery. She covered Brycen's eyes with her fingers, shaking her blonde hair out of her face. "Guess who?" she repeated, using Peyton's voice. "Got an answer yet?" she cooed in David's.
