.* Caia Grey & Hakan Lure *.
Did they really just walk away? There was a good period of silence when Arren just silently stared, and although Caia hadn't even known he existed until recently, she figured that had to be rare. And then, when she thought he was going to act, he turned around, pushed Hakan out, and locked the door behind them. She heard their footsteps retreating down the corridor, and a large slamming noise. Caia sat there alone... again. "Okay." she muttered, watching as the ghosts disappeared, a little disappointed that they were among her feelings of relief. She didn't find the ghost of her mother. She didn't want to watch her mother died, but she thought it might give her a little closure if she knew. Just a little.
It was creepily silent. Before, there was at least some sort of noise, the occasional demon grunt, but now there was nothing. Caia would think that she'd appreciate the silence, but it was unsettling. "What is this, a psychological attack? Try to make me go insane by completely isolating me?" Well, she was talking to herself, but that was nothing too new. "Not going to work. I happen to like being by myself." That was true, but for some reason being left alone by
those two was like a king being avoided because he had the plague. Was there something down here that the druid set loose even he didn't want to be around?
She wouldn't put it past him, so when she heard a slight hissing noise, Caia assumed the worst. She froze, glancing all around her. Snakes? Was he going to poison her? "I'm not afraid of snakes." she muttered, supporting herself with the wall as she struggled to stand. "Go ahead, kill me. You'll never find your precious watch." How long do people last from snake bites? It depended on the snake, right? And this was the demon world, so these were demon snakes? How bad was a demon snake bite?
Expecting at any moment snakes to start appearing in front of her cell... or maybe randomly in her cell, Caia was startled when instead she saw purple gas creep around the corners. Narrowing her eyes, she pressed herself against the wall behind her as it drifted leisurely in. "What the..." It was a matter of seconds for the gas to reach her feet and then rise as more filled the prison.
'What is this stuff?' Caia hastily placed a hand over her mouth and nose and inhaled deeply before it reached her face. She didn't know what was going on, other than she was being gassed, and so she was certain that she did not want to breathe it in.
Hakan watched through the window as gas filled the chamber, rolling his glowing orb one last time in the palm of his hand before putting it back in his pocket. It didn't look like he was going to be needed any time soon. An interesting method, most effective, and actually pretty intelligent. So Arren could think properly every once in a while. It was something to take note of.
Caia coughed at the effort of breathing again, her lungs burning in her chest. She was hoping to outlast the gas, thinking that maybe the druid would shut it off after a bit. Apparently that theory was wrong, and as humans need oxygen to live, her body couldn't last any longer and forced Caia to breathe. Her mind raced as it went into overtime, her vision swimming. She was already exhausted enough after using the last bit of her powers at the mansion, and after the electric shocks, and robbing herself of breath only made it worse. She stood against the wall, trying to regain her composure while fright was growing ever so slightly, tightening her chest. Not knowing what the gas would do to her was freaking her out. She wanted some sort of explanation. "Hey, druid!" she shouted as soon as she was able, adrenaline spiking. "Get back here and tell me what's going on!" Of course there was no reply. "HEY!"
Then the gas dissipated, albeit slowly, but eventually it was all gone. Caia stayed where she was, pressed up against the wall. What did that mean? What the heck did it mean, having the gas recede like that? Hesitantly, Caia dared to take a few steps forward, trying to peer down the corridor when she heard something else. A rushing noise. Rushing? Rushing what? Rushing... rushing water? As soon as she had the thought, a torrent came streaming from ends she could not see. Caia let out a shout of fright and stumbled backwards. The water hit her like moving wall which would have knocked her over if hadn't steeled herself before hand. In a second the water was up to her waist. Had she not been a Grey, and so resistant against temperature, she would have noticed it was freezing. But she didn't have to feel the freezing temps. When completely engulfed in water, as she soon was, and drowning in it, your body was going to go numb either way. It was usually incredibly difficult for a Grey's body to be effected by temperature. For one reason or another, this situation was different, because although Caia couldn't feel how cold it was, she felt her limbs numb as started swallowing water.
Frantic, she swung her arms and legs, trying to go somewhere, anywhere, whether it was up or down or sideways, where there was air. She began loosing her senses, her vision blacking out as her lungs filled with water. She was dying, she knew she was, and there was no way to stop it. Looks like the two of them were tired of dealing with her. Then, as she her consciousness started drifting away, the current slowed and the water level receded. Eventually, Caia laying on the floor, her body soaked, shaking and coughing up water. Her heart was beating furiously, her head pounding with such extremity she thought her skull was going to explode.
'They're trying to kill me. They're trying to kill me, they're trying to kill me they're trying to kill me.' Body still shaking, she got up on her hands and knees. "If... if you're going to
kill me," Caia said, her voice rasping. "Going to kill me, THEN KILL ME ALREADY!"
